Title: yast2 seutp in SuSE8 Subject: you need to configure a mirror Yast2 needs to be reconfigured to use a web based source media after the initial install, so that you don't have to put the CD's in the cdrom every time you want to install a package. This is how to set the configuration to use suse's nfs site for the source media: yast2-> Software ->Change source of installation Software Source Medium: Network: linux01.GwDG.de Directory on server: /suse/8.0/i386 I was warned that my product info was different, as I used the DVD to install SuSE 8.0 on my laptop. This will be OK? I first found the article: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/lmuelle_suselinux_internet.html and I was able to mount the samba share from the command line, but from yast2 it failed: mount -t smbfs //linux01.GwDG.de/SuSE /mnt/linux01 so I tried the nfs mount which worked for the command line and from yast2: mount -t nfs linux01.GwDG.de:/suse/8.0/i386 /mnt/linux01 My God! I have been stuck on that since yast2 came out. p.s. In O'Reilly books I do not see the normal copy protection in other books about the reposting, reproduction, and redistrobution of their work. Grab an O'Reilly book and any other book, and look at the coppywrite page. So I posted a bunch of the books, legally, on my site.
